My name is Rachael McDonald, and I am honored to serve as the Office Administrator for the Lake Huron Catholic Family of Parishes. It is a privilege to support our faith community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our shared mission.
Professionally, I bring a broad range of experience to this role. I previously served as a Homestay Director for International Student Guardianship Canada in Toronto, where I also worked closely with students as a homestay guardian. Prior to that, I spent five years as a Virtual Assistant, helping small business owners streamline their operations and focus on what mattered most to them.
In 2020, I made Grand Bend my home, drawn by its peaceful atmosphere and stunning sunsets. My journey to this community has been shaped by a life of travel and transition—experiences that have given me a deep appreciation for connection, adaptability, and the importance of home. Born in London, England, I moved to Jamaica as a baby, then to British Columbia by age five. Since then, I’ve lived in Zimbabwe, England, and across several parts of Ontario, including Milton, before settling here.
Each place I’ve lived holds special memories, but family has always been my constant. Travel for me has often meant reuniting with loved ones. Like many, I know the ache of being far from family—especially during difficult times.
When people ask me, “Where is home?” I say, “Home is where my heart is.” That sentiment also reflects my spiritual journey. After taking a few detours, I returned to the Church and experienced a profound sense of homecoming, filled with gratitude and renewed faith.
Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve received. I look forward to serving this wonderful community with dedication and care, and I humbly ask for your patience as I continue to learn and grow in this role. It is a true blessing to be here, and I’m excited for the journey ahead—together in faith and service.
